On The last day of MBIFL19 ,

I Came up to the summit A Bit late , As I had to travel from Puthiyathura to Kanakukunu Palace , Where the summit was held .

My plan was to have a quick glance at all the corners and start Roaming at my favorite few . And complete the checklist I came up with . I had my sponsor with me who wanted a few Clicks from me in exchange of complete days expenses . I knew I wouldn’t have been a Burden . Cause I am kinda tightwad .

So as soon as I stepped in after looking at the cute couple’s sitting around the entrance . I wanted to take some pics . But didn’t wanna scare them and I didn’t wanna look like a creep so I moved from there also I had a task And it was to Roam around in search of nothing . So I was moving with a pace as for there weren’t much people around . I assumed to take a Sprint around in about 15 minutes .

But as soon as I entered next to the session next to Poetree . My sprinting footsteps softened and Final stopped at a fine place to sit as I was eagerly listening to a story teller who was somewhat a familiar face . But I didn’t know who it was . I have seen him a hundred times. But never bothered to know his name but his storytelling that was about the youth fantasy . Attracted me it had a innocence of the young adult teenager. Who was attracted to a maid I believe . It’s not that me as a teenager felt sensual nota . but infact the way he told the story and how he brought the curiosity of the teenager along side the sensual part of it and also reality of have to tell the experience to a best friend . It intrigued me and I was just hooked to him . I asked to a girl next to me do you know this guy . She replied

Madhupal sir

Atu arilla Madhupal Sir !

U really don’t know Madhupal Sir !

And I smiled and didn’t wanna make myself look like a Clown so I Decided to Google him . And ya Google said it . Madhupal who was a malayam film director/writer . That’s all and his picture but as I was searching the next reader began the reading. And I was syched . So I took a screenshot and settled my ass on a chair next to me .

The next reader looked young and he was also having an awesome nice voice and also emersive storytelling . I Remember I had to leave but said to myself I’ll be leaving just after it

I then asked a person next to me and they said it was Shaji sir .

He talks about childhood storyteller Auntie who inspired people to tell stories . Who could bring out right story for the right person . And who that because an inspiration for him in childhood .

I was overwhelmed that I was sitting amongst such great people who I Never knew . I’ll make sure to meet these guys and inculcate a Little storytelling ability from them .

His recitation of the story was really immersive and soothing to listen to .

Shahina Rafiq

Then Came Shahina Rafiq . Her works seamed a Little unique as for she wrote a wrote in her books the conversation of a couple which was very realistic and also cute and funny her stories were funny but the crowd seemed to be very stoic . Which was sad . Ok so Shahina Rafiq is a Film Director . As a aspirant of filmmaking I need to learn alot about the people in the industry .

So as all three reading acts finished people surrounded them with amazing chats for them but I never go to people to meet that is because I am quite an introvert in the beginning .

Alappad Dairy

Morning 4:30 my alarm ring tone goes round I am partially awake and tried to get up blackout ** it’s 5: 00 I am awakened by my brother I jump out of bed thinking I screwed up

I rush into the bathroom as I am supposed to be at the bus stop by 5 30 I rushed up my shower and get ready by 5 20 and I slowly pack up my backpack consist of a hoodie, cam bag, battery + charger, book pen.

The breakfast is served i eat fast , i have a bit of leftovers .

I am set to leave but my brother is still getting ready. we already lost a bus the next buss has 10 min to reach we slowly leave to the bus stand we wait for some time. the bus reaches we find Kishore too he was also late. we all get seated its around 6 30. we reach tampanoor railway station then we wait for everyone to arrive .as everyone reaches while we were at railway station we the cscf members, there are many of the members ill introduce each of them slowly

mainly the executives are Jaison John, Jyothybasu, Kumar Karinkulam, Jima Rose, Joby John if someone is left pls inform

around 7 00 the train reached all of them and the Cscf members got on to train we all got seats after a little time I found myself a seat and as I was alone I decided to snooze of a little and then as I was asleep others were sharing the notice templets we print to spread the word about Alapad issue and some more information regarding the fight Alappadians were fighting.

We reached Karunagapally Railway Station .. much everything are straight forward. we all got onto the bus to the city center. as we reached city we all were Hungry so we decided to have a little breakfast then also in between Jima rose along a member left to buy some stationaries for the banners and pluckcards. we all set off to bus stand and found a place to make our pluck card and banners

as our everyone enthusiastically participated in this crafty responsibility toi express the awarness about Alapadians

As soon as we finished we started out Awareness and Raising high our Pluck cards and Talking to people Regarding the issues we walked down to where more people could see us

we settled beside the main junction road and stood strongly whereas we came across many people with different opinions in support and also against and also spreading the word regarding the issue widely as our bus reached which would take us to the strike shed

we didn’t stop our proclamations while we were on the bus we still Continued to talk and spread the voice about it we were asked by many people regarding our act we peacefully got a response in support

We rechecked to the strike shed and we were received with warm applauds and worshiping eyes we were talked about a lot we received a lot of upraises

we met every one surrounded by it and heard their words with warm hearts we declared our support to the Alapaians who are our own brothers and we sang Coastal songs and pumped up the people who were participating in the strike and we received a lot of support from many of the people around and also there were amazing people who shared their knowledge regarding Alapad

then we were taken to the Mining site and we were given a tiny tour and also we saw in hand the excavation which was still continuing

we went back to the strike shed and we for the last time showered our love for them and we left as we had to get to railway station to reach back home e all were tired we stopped by a tea stall and had a teacup and left to the station we waited for the train and as the train reached we found no place to sit when we all took out our pluck card even though we were tired and also shared the notice.

and as we slowly got seats we settled down and as we reached back Trivandrum we were filled with a consolidating and a little proud for the help we did and we were also happy that we could do something for our Brothers and sisters.

Alappad’s Demons

This is all just a short report of us CSCF students going out to Alappad and understanding the situation alappadians are facing

A Short little explanation on how a coastal mining quarry can affect the ocean ecosystem and the community surrounding it

1. Land Degradation :

the main soul pourpose of a Sand mining quarry is to extract the minerals and extractable matirials and leave the
non useful part of the soil left back to the land .

2. destroying biodiversity

not only the lives of humans . Animals , birds , the very least spoken about and important microbials , and
coral life culture are affected due to the lack of habbitat and irregular soil particle

3. Acid Lakes

Due to the fumes and waste of machinery and the fuels and high concentration of useless impurities
a lake of acid is formed in the Quarry and damages the ecology around it.

4. Waste output to the ocean

like shown in the image above the the wastwe thate is left is being dumped into the ocean and affects
to the system of food chain i.e fishes and in a way affects us as when we consume fish.

5. natural disaster

the land sites form instability as for when the underground rocks and pillars are excavated and
creates a dipression in the region

in many cases, there have been reports of formation of sand dunes and also sand deposits

6. Social issues

social problems people loose generations of experience from the place. where the people who know their land
might not be able to experience a similar effect. Depression rises in the society as for the separation of the birth land
and also not being able to do the traditional culture.

7. Lose of jobs :

as the fish and the ocean ecology colapses the fisher community looses pleanty of jobs and this is for the citizens who have
dedicated thier lives for these scientifically accurate and efficiant procedures of fishing methodology . and the high end fisher
compaanies that have thier whole purpose is to distroy the nation prewailes .

8. Economically :

the price for the fishes would rise and add to the price rise of the middle class and common people ( and we will have to
pay a high price for the worst fishes).

These might not seem like a big difference for the people who are not affected by these but for the people who are affected by this
this plant would decide the fate of their future and their unique skills and unique knowledge

if allapad looses we all loose as a citizen of the country that couldn’t stand for its people .

You mi8 have been following up here as a citizen and as a person who got to witness Alappadian Fisher Societies fight for their
ri8 I believe I should share the experience and knowledge I received from visiting Allapad

Alappad is a coastal village in the Kollam district of the Indian state Kerala.
It is situated on a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the Arabian Sea and the TS Canal –
the village is approximately 16 km long and its narrowest point is as thin as 33 meters.

But Alappad is much more than just land it is the birthplace of thousands if not millions of human souls
and People with dreams and people with a desire to be free from their daily fi8 for their human ri8

allapad has a population of 21,655 humans According to Wikipedia 2011.

Alappad has mostly fishing community and the sea dependent and they have already been taken that from them as the part of a mining project
and many government and social aspects.

all this information is just possible because of my voluntary activities in CSCF
that is an Organisation that studies and supports the students and people who are interested in researching the ocean and fisherman community
and are doing an amazing work with that enough about boasting my team but this wouldn’t have been possible without them
